The Crystal Caves puzzle box

This is my first Magic Puzzle. I chanced upon them through a 50% off Black Friday sale on Amazon. Skimming through their website, it appears they release three new puzzles a year, each design created in collaboration with a different artist.

The art by odsanyu on this puzzle is incredibly cute, which is what initially drew me to it. The packaging was great, and the box included a lot of thoughtful extras. I especially appreciated that all the puzzle pieces fit neatly back into their envelopes for storage.

They also include a sheet for spotting all the hidden Easter eggs. We waited until after completing the puzzle to work on it, though you could probably use the art posters as a guide. And yes, posters—plural. They include two art posters (a first for me!), which allows multiple people to more easily work on the puzzle at the same time. Since there was a spare, we let our preschooler use one as room decor.

SPOILER! Only read below if you want to be spoiled.

After completing the main puzzle, there’s a second envelope to open containing instructions on how to shift the puzzle pieces. Inside is another envelope with additional pieces to assemble. There’s no poster or guide showing what the completed shifted puzzle should look like (although I’ve included a photo below), so we relied on context clues. Fortunately, there weren’t many pieces, so it wasn’t too difficult to figure out.

Unfortunately, our magic shift was missing one piece. I contacted the company, and while they weren’t able to replace the individual piece, they did let me choose a replacement puzzle, which arrived within a week. I’m looking forward to completing it and continuing to support a company that creates unique puzzles and stands behind its products with great customer service.
